Following the Holy Spirit is similar to taking steps.

Sometimes you take a step and it’s not right, so you make adjustments and go another direction.

This happened with the Apostle Paul on his second missionary journey. He and Silas headed to Asia, but the Holy Spirit forbid them to preach in Asia.

(I find it interesting, that the Holy Spirit did not forbid them from preaching in Asia, until they arrived in Asia.)

Next, Paul and Silas went to the province of Bithynia, and the same thing happened. The Holy Spirit told them not to minister in Bithynia. I’m guessing that at this point Silas may be thinking, “Maybe this Paul guy doesn’t know what he’s doing?”

The next night, Paul had a vision of a man from Greece pleading with him, “Come over here and help us.”

Paul and Silas decided to leave for Greece at once, knowing that the Holy Spirit was leading them there.

Debbie and I are at a similar place with our ministry.

Five years ago, we made a decision to resign our staff position at Living Word Christian Center, to plant a new church. It has been a journey of faith.

Since December 2016, the church has not been making the monthly budget. The red ink has been going on a credit card and we can’t continue do that.  The bottom line is that we do not have the numbers or the finances to continue.

Our 3 Rivers Church Pastoral Team – Matt & Melissa Richmann, Lance & Missy McKinnon, Debbie and myself – met and decided it was time to close the doors of 3 Rivers Church.

This coming Sunday, August 20, I will be continuing my series on “Following the Holy Spirit” as I talk about Choosing a Church.

August 27 will be our last Sunday at 3 Rivers. It’s NOT going to be a funeral. It’s going to be a time of sharing testimonies with one another about how we have grown in the Lord during this time.

I don’t know what I am going to do next in my ministry, but I do know that I have not finished my course. I am going to back up a little bit, make some adjustments, find a church that is bearing fruit and help them. I encourage you to do the same. This is what the walk of faith is all about.

If you have been a part of 3 Rivers in any way, we invite you to come celebrate with us on August 27th at 10am.

If you want to know more details below is the message on August 6, when I made the announcement to the church.
